Effect of density fluctuations on gravitational wave production in first-order phase transitions

چکیده

We study the effect of density perturbations on process first-order phase transitions and gravitational wave production in early Universe. are mainly interested how distribution nucleated bubbles is affected by fluctuations local temperature. find that large-scale ($H_* < k_* \beta$) result a larger effective bubble size at time collision, enhancing produced amplitude waves. The necessary for this enhancement ${\cal P}_\zeta (k_*) \gtrsim (\beta / H_*)^{-2}$, therefore signal from with relatively large $\beta H_*$ can be significantly enhanced mechanism even moderate amplitudes.

First Order Phase Transitions in Gravitational Collapse

In recent numerical simulations of spherically symmetric gravitational collapse a new type of critical behaviour, dominated by a sphaleron solution, has been found. In contrast to the previously studied models, in this case there is a finite gap in the spectrum of black-hole masses which is reminiscent of a first order phase transition. We briefly summarize the essential features of this phase ...

Fluctuations and Bubble Dynamics in First-Order Phase Transitions

We numerically examine the effect of thermal fluctuations on a first-order phase transition in 2+1 dimensions. By focusing on the expansion of a single bubble we are able to calculate changes in the bubble wall’s velocity as well as changes in its structure relative to the standard case where the bubble expands into a homogeneous background. Not only does the wall move faster, but the transitio...

Gravitational wave generation from bubble collisions in first-order phase transitions: an analytic approach

Gravitational wave production from bubble collisions was calculated in the early nineties using numerical simulations. In this paper, we present an alternative analytic estimate, relying on a different treatment of stochasticity. In our approach, we provide a model for the bubble velocity power spectrum, suitable for both detonations and deflagrations. From this, we derive the anisotropic stres...

Defect production in slow first-order phase transitions.

We study the formation of vortices in a U(1) gauge theory following a firstorder transition proceeding by bubble nucleation, in particular the effect of a low velocity of expansion of the bubble walls. To do this, we use a twodimensional model in which bubbles are nucleated at random points in a plane and at random times and then expand at some velocity vb < c. Within each bubble, the phase ang...

Thermal fluctuations at second order phase transitions

We construct a new coarse-grained effective potential which enables us to estimate the probabilities of thermal fluctuations above an arbitrary threshold at different length scales.
